Life's Been Really Crazy!

Sorry that I haven't posted anything in so very long. Things have been really crazy here lately. First of all my mother is still in the rehabilitation hospital - we are praying that she will be home for Thanksgiving, but not sure if that is going to happen, Bobby is finally starting to get better now -- He had his foot surgery on October 15th. His foot his healing slowly but at least it is healing! And school is very hectic this semester. I have one semester left before I graduate from WCCC, then I am taking the summer off from school before I start classes for my Bachelor's degree in the Fall. At least that is the plan - still have to decide where to take classes in the fall.

Thanks for stopping by and I promise to start posting more often again. I have started making cards more often and I have started working on Christmas presents for everyone this year.

Sorry Nothing New Over The Weekend...

I am really sorry that I didn't post anything new over the weekend. The Fall semester at Westmoreland County Community College started on August 20, 2009 and the two classes I am taking this semester are super intense on the homework. I was also in and out of the doctor's office, the hospital, and the dentist office last week. My son was in the emergency room on Wednesday after he cut his thumb severely and had to go to the ER and get stitches. I hope this week goes better.

Thanks for understanding and I hope things start to go better around here. The Cleveland Kite Festival is coming up on the weekend of September 12th & 13th! I love that festival!

Stampin' Out Alzheimer's!

I want to share some information about a very special project with you today that involves some wonderful people from Paper Craft Planet. Jen Tapler, from Jen Tapler Designs, and Susanna Boyd of Card of the Week are hosting a 7 day stamping and scrapbooking event to help raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's Disease. Alzheimer's Disease is currently the 7th leading cause of death in the United States. It is a fatal, progressive disease that slowly robs a person of their precious memories.We are involved in the memory preservation hobbies - so what better cause for the papercrafting community to join together to support? The site, Stampin Out Alzheimers.ning.com, will feature a variety of challenges, contests, classes and more in different paper crafting categories (stamping, cardmaking, paperscrapbooking, digi scrapping, hybrid, etc) - with prizes donated by over 30 generous sponsors. It's set up as a "Pay to Play" community.For a small donation (any amount will do), you'll get permission to join the online community which will be up from May 25 to June 1st. 100% of these funds will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association to help with their efforts to provide and enhance care and support for all those affected by this heartbreaking disease. Mother's Day Card

Here is the card that I made for my mother for Mother's Day. Her name is Rose and she collects Teddy Bears and we usually give her something bear related for any gift-giving occasion, but this time I thought that I would give her something different this time.

I found a cross stitch kit at Jo Ann Fabrics and after I did all the stitching I decided that I would use it on a card instead of putting it on the hanger that came with the kit. I then used some pale pink marble cardstock from a scrap pack that I got at Wal-Mart to mat the cross stitched piece then I used some pretty pink card stock from another scrap pack as the front of the card base.

I used iron-on adhesive on the back of the cross stitched piece and double stick tape as adhesive everywhere else.

Glorius Day in Support of a Wonderful Charity...

First of all I want to apologize for taking so long to post on my blog. I promise I will try to get better at it. I am swamped with schoolwork at the end of this semester and am swamped with a transcription job that I accepted, that I am beginning to believe is more than I can handle right now.

Secondly, Saturday April 25th was a GREAT day in Austintown, Ohio. We got up at 4:30 am to drive from our home in southwestern PA to Austintown, OH. We spent the day at the 2009 Let Your Dreams Fly Kite Festival that supports the Jessica Moorehead Foundation for Hope. This is a wonderful foundation that helps children with cancer and their families. They do a remarkable job and their story is truly one that brings tears to your eyes. I don't have any pictures from this year's festival to show you, but it truly was a great way to spend the day with family and friends and watch the joy that spreads over a child's face as they hold a string and watch the kite they made fly up, up, and up into the sky.
